Introduction to traditional rug hooking

112 Canadian dollars
Pandora Avenue

Service Description

Learn how to hook rugs using wool strips, yarn, and recycled fabric. In this 4 hour class, students will be provided with a kit that includes a 6" x 6” Sunflower or Bumblebee design on Monk's cloth with pre-cut wool strips and a rug hook. The design makes a lovely mug rug or hot pad and can be enlarged to a small mat or pillow. Learn the basics of rug hooking including transferring a pattern, how to enlarge a design into a pillow or a small rug, hand-cutting wool fabric and t-shirts into useable strips, hooking a straight and curved line, a corner and circle, and finishing the rug. Supplies required: sharp scissors, a 14" hoop, and a snack. A 14" hoop can be purchased from the studio ($50.00 plus tax). Follow-up support is available. Class is $100.00 plus HST or $112.00. Former students are welcome to attend future classes for ongoing support with their project at no charge. After registering, a follow-up email will be sent out a few days prior to the class. Please note: if you have allergies, there is a dog and cat in the home.
